Works.

Six bodies of work across fashion, knitwear and textile sculpture — each tracing a question Peiyang is afraid to ask out loud, then answered in fibre.

Live Sashimi × Aqin

FashionSS '23Ruching

In a handful of Japanese villages, sashimi has evolved into a cherished tradition where fishermen meticulously extract the flesh and skin of seafood — while the remains of bone and nerve continue to support the marine life beneath.

The collection asks, from a removed standpoint, whether this gastronomic ritual deserves preservation, or a quieter reconsideration. It echoes The Cove — a tragic mirror in which sea and human are locked in a cycle of death and retribution.

Peiyang channels the contemplation into a spring/summer collection: symbolism woven through pattern, arresting print, and meticulous ruching — an interplay of elastic strands behind the fabric — amplifying the voice of the sea's quiet suffering.

Nuclear Waste — Mutant Creatures

Fine Art2025Crochet

Nuclear Waste: Mutant Creatures investigates humanity's fear of the unknown and the repercussions of our actions on ecosystems through innovative fabric-making methods.

Inspired by a Chinese nuclear-radiation expert's research prior to the Fukushima disaster, Peiyang's textile pieces merge unnatural elements with sea debris — hybrid forms such as Skeletal Fish (a bone fish with a human head), Medusa Octopus (an octopus with snake heads), and Sea Glass Beaded Tropical Fish.

Through crochet, smocking and machine knitting she depicts a haunting marine environment — provoking reflection on the perils of nuclear radiation and the urgency of protecting the natural world.

Memory · Mental Bullying

Fine Art2023Macramé

A mixed-media installation: macramé braiding, machine knitting, e-textiles and crochet, layered with adapted French-knot techniques for e-wire decoration. Knit-fabric strands of contrasting yarn enhance visual texture; an industrial machine introduces ruching for depth.

Pink for feminism, black for fear, red for violence. Three to four metres of fabric were knitted so that the braids could envelop the space — encircling a small area, blocking outside light, and standing in for darkness itself.

Emotion · Shyness

Fine Art2023Beading

"Lifting your heart and holding your gallbladder amid the air." A Chinese proverb that became the brief: a quiet study of nervous anticipation, performed in the delicate dance of pearls on threads.

Yarn vs. bead. Substantial beads and airy organza strips symbolise the mixed feelings often present in timidity — white against colour, internal conflict made visible.
